BR CATRIONA
DOB: September 19, 2000
Description: Bred Huacaya Female
Sex: Female
ARI: #823537
CLAA: #20938
Color: Medium Fawn
Sire: TELL VICTOR's VACCOYO - This full Accoyo son of PPERUVIAN ACCOYO VICTOR is one of North America’s best known herdsires, as he consistently transmits his phenomenal fleece characteristics of deep bold crimp and extreme density to his offspring. He is a renowned sire of show ring champions, both in the United States and Canada. He has produced crias in every one of ARI’s twenty-two natural colors. Outside stud service to VACCOYO has been strictly limited over the past few years, in order to preserve the value of this winning bloodline
Dam: MMR Silken. A dark maroon-colored female who consistently produces dark colored crias. Several of SILKEN’s crias have been black. SILKEN adds extreme density to the fleece of all her crias.
Service Sire: ELITE GENERAL LEDGER. This fawn Peruvian macho came to Canada “in utero” from Australia as part of the ELITE importation nearly a decade ago. A son of LEDGER’S DREAM, one of Australia’s “big six” Peruvian herdsires, LEDGER represents genetics which are very limited in North America – we consider our “LEDGER” to be one of the nation’s best-kept secrets. LEDGER’s progeny exhibit solid conformation and abundant fibre coverage. Their fleeces have high luster and excellent density. Mostly fawn or brown in colour, LEDGER’s crias are extremely cute, with short muzzles and full topknots. LEDGER has been used for limited breeding, and will not be offered for outside service in 2008, in order to ensure that his progeny retain their value as our industry matures in the years ahead. We expect that this mating with CATRIONA will result in a brown cria again next year, just like her ’07 son, MONACO, who is absolutely adorable.
Service Date: July 17, 2007
Due Date: Early July 2008

Comments: With CATRIONA’s awesome color, deep bold crimp and extreme density, she has certainly inherited the best qualities from both of her parents. However the true value of a production female lies in her ability to pass these traits down to her offspring. CATRIONA truly excels in this regard, and this has been proven time after time when her progeny bring home the ribbons. Although her fibre has coarsened a bit with age, she still produces show winning offspring for us each year. CATRIONA is co-owned with Battle River Alpacas. Take a look at the showring records of her offspring, and you’ll appreciate that CATRIONA is truly a jewel in our breeding program.
